Only One US City Made The List Of Top Travel Destinations In 2022

Although the cost of airline tickets has slowed certain people’s plans to travel during the holiday season, the demand is still growing as more and more people finally decide to take those trips they delayed during the epidemic.

Some studies have shown that anticipation and planning for a vacation can trigger a surge in happiness levels. Additionally, some might be experiencing wanderlust but intend to avoid buying.

However, Google (GOOGL) – Get Free Report has released some of the most sought-after destinations for travel as part of the more extensive Year In Search round-up that showcases some of the most sought-after events, people, and cultural phenomena throughout the year. (“Ukraine,” “Queen Elizabeth passing,” and “monkeypox” are all high on the list.)

When it comes to the most popular cities, including Great Britain’s London as well as the city of Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City, and France’s Paris, stood out at the top. What a Google representative said were the cities with the “high spike in traffic over a sustained period in 2022 as compared to 2021.”

It’s not necessarily a sign they were the most sought-after. In the United States, high numbers of tourists were visiting “The Caribbean,” “The East Coast of the United States,” and “Croatia” as holiday destinations.

People who typed in “travel destinations” were also becoming more attracted by Kansas.

The United Kingdom and Turkey came out as the clear winner for people typing “holidays in” into the search engine. Cornwall came in second. Destinations like Italy, Dubai, and Spain (all highly sought-after places for Brits) naturally followed in the order.

However, regarding Google Flights, Canada has been gaining popularity. Cities such as Toronto and Vancouver have made the top lists this year, as Canada was opened to tourism and could get off of testing requirements later than its southern neighbor.

The only American city that made the top 10 top ten list is New York, and travelers may be thinking of more exotic destinations on their list. New Delhi, Rome, Mumbai, and Lisbon were other cities that blew over Google Flights most in 2022.

Travel May Be A Hot Mess, But We’re Still Doing It

Travel, and flights specifically, is experiencing significant turmoil. Prices for everything from aviation to car rentals and hotels are rising considerably. However, demand is relatively high when compared to previous seasons.

In the summer, essential airport hubs such as London’s Heathrow or Frankfurt International Airport even instituted passenger limits due to the long lines and the lack of staff to assist passengers in connecting with their baggage.

The issue of understaffing is prevalent across the entire airline industry following the massive layoffs which occurred during the outbreak. According to confident analysts, price increases could create distinct categories of passengers who don’t travel at all and have to pay for it. At present, the overall demand is relatively unaffected by price increases.
